There were some strange sights to see at Bairnsdale Christian Community School last week as students and staff celebrated Literacy and Numeracy week at the school and Foundations Early Learning Centre.

Parents and friends went back to school on Tuesday night to test their maths skills, with children showing them a thing or two in the classroom. The event included a shared dinner of soup and dessert and mathematical fun for all ages.

All year levels, from three year old kinder to grade six and even some of the teachers dressed up as their favourite book characters with Mr Tickles, a Very Hungry Caterpillar, Pig the Pug and Ned Kelly making an appearance.
