First athletics carnival for Christian School

News Date: May 23rd, 2017

Bairnsdale Christian Community School hosted its first all school athletics carnival yesterday.

Students from kinder through to grade six tried their hand at several athletics events including sack races, hurdles, long jump, discus and running.

“It was a fantastic day for our school,” said Principal Steve McAllister.

“Our kinder and prep students had fun running races, throwing beanbags and going over hurdles while our senior students competed in more traditional events such as high jump, shot put and triple jump.

“There was lots of cheering and encouragement from students, parents and teachers throughout the day, with several students achieving personal bests.

“It was a delight to see everyone having a go and participating.

“We were especially thankful for the good weather and our parent helpers.”

The event concluded with a sausage sizzle lunch. Several students will now compete in the District Athletics event on Wednesday, 24 May.
