Building Wisdom for Life

Foundations Early Learning Centre opened mid-2016 under the governing body of Bairnsdale Christian Community School. The twenty-two place centre offers the East Gippsland community its first non-denominational Christian early childhood education and care service.

Foundations ELC provides a caring, nurturing and safe environment where biblical truths are taught and lived. The ELC team are passionate about seeing each child grow in the knowledge and understanding of the character of God and developing Christ-likeness in both attitude and practice.

We welcome children from Christian and non-Christian families to our School community.

Play-based Learning

Foundations Early Learning Centre adopts a play-based learning program. This does not mean that the children just do what they like all day. There will be times when the children come together as a group, listen to others, observe rules and begin to take responsibility for their actions and their environment.

In practical terms, a play-based program gives emphasis to encouraging children to express their own ideas in play. Play is the way in which children learn. They learn most effectively when they are relaxed and having fun.

Engaging Environment

The custom built kindergarten is bright, open and spacious. The indoor area flows onto an undercover deck, adjoining the landscaped natural play-space. While outside, children can splash in the creek bed, climb over rocks, roll down the grassed mounds, dig in the huge sandpit or mud patch, or ride their trikes along the textured path.

The ELC children will also visit the School to go the Library, use the Undercover Sports Area and the Oval, and visit the school chickens.

Family Involvement

We believe that God has given the responsibility for the training and nurture of children primarily to their parents/guardians. As an Early Learning Centre we want to support and work together with families to provide a positive learning and nurturing environment for each child.

Parents/guardians are most welcome to participate in ELC activities, including assisting with excursions, attending meetings and information evenings, and participating in the regular educational program.
