Can my child have nuts in their lunchbox?

The College is nut aware, which means that while students are permitted to bring nuts to school, there are important guidelines in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. Nuts can be a potential allergen for some individuals, and the College aims to create a safe environment for everyone.

While students are allowed to bring nuts for personal consumption, it's essential to exercise caution and responsibility. Students are encouraged to never share foods (nut-containgin or not) with their peers. This precaution helps prevent accidental exposure to allergens and reduces the risk of triggering allergic reactions in those who may have nut allergies.

Furthermore, maintaining good hand washing habits is crucial for overall hygiene and safety. After consuming any food, including those containing nuts, students should wash their hands thoroughly. This practice minimises the chances of cross-contamination and ensures that any residue or traces of allergens are effectively removed.
